SSK And WellnerBOX Catches Construction Site Thief

SSK and WellnerBOX catches construction site thief

Successful use of the WellnerBox

Since April 2016, the Lusatian security company SSK Security has been guarding a large construction site in Belgium, where wind turbines are being built. In addition to fence systems and on-site security personnel, SSK decided to use four WellnerBOX systems to supplement its own personnel on site. Experience from the past had convinced SSK that the use of a WellnerBOX for construction site surveillance services is a good addition to its own portfolio and complements its own resources particularly well.

After an employee training in Gerichshain, SSK can now transport, set up and dismantle our all-in-one solution independently and – which is a great advantage – also connect it to the video-capable SSK emergency call centre in Schwarzheide. This enables SSK Managing Director Daniel Komorek to offer security services, e.g. for construction site monitoring, completely from his own hands, which he also does successfully.

Construction site surveillance for wind turbines

The construction site in Belgium is guarded by staff and our security solutions during the period when construction activities are suspended (especially at night and at weekends). A security guard can’t always be on site at the same time and place. If an alarm is triggered by a WellnerBOX, the alarm is received in the emergency call centre and evaluated by the employee on duty. If he detects a danger, the safety employee on the construction site is immediately informed, who initiates appropriate measures.

In the relevant case in mid-May an unauthorised person was detected by a WellnerBox at one of the wind turbine construction sites around 3 am. The situation was clear: the unauthorized person tampered with construction vehicles (diesel theft). The thief became more cautious by speaking through the loudspeaker, but still felt safe because he wore a hood or thought that intervention personnel were far away. But when a guard with a dog appeared shortly afterwards, the unknown fled. On the run, his car got stuck in rough terrain. When he wanted to pick up his vehicle the next day, the SSK’s attentive staff provided him and handed him over to the Belgian police.

This incident clearly shows how the WellnerBOX effectively supports the work of a security service. Personnel costs can be reduced by using the WellnerBOX without reducing site safety. Thanks to modern technology, the interaction between technology and people now also functions successfully across national borders.
